Hello,

I have discovered Redsnapper tripods through the forums on this site.

Can someone tell me the main differences between the RS-284 and RSH-12 Ball Head and the RS-283 and RSH-12 Ball Head?

the 284 is 4 section and 283 is 3 section...that refers to the leg sections right?

Also one is just smaller than the other? They are both the same price.

This will be my first tripod purchase so I want to get the best one for me.

I was also looking at Giotto's MTL9351B + MH5011 Kit

Any recommendations or advice?

Thanks,

Mike

The 4 section one packs down smaller so better if you want to carry it over distances eg hiking etc - the 3 section one should be a little more stable though.

I went for the 4 section and I'm very happy with it.

Whereas I wanted more stability so bought a 3 section tripod (mine wasn't a red snapper).

They make both to give you a choice :) Are you going to be lugging it about or not? It size of the tripod an issue?

Hi,

I would like to take it around with me. It would be good to be able to pack it in luggage to take if I go travelling.

Im not sure which is a better choice, the sturdy bigger one or smaller lighter one.

Decisions, decisions...

There is virtually nothing in it. They only produce them both, I suspect, because some people want 3 section and some 4 section!

Don't forget that unless you need to extend to full height you can use the 4 section one with only 3 sections (without the thinnest end section extended), making it a bit sturdier.
