Tripod Thread size for 400D

Hi,

I've recently bought a 400D, does anyone know if the thread size for the tripod is larger than standard as my old tripod seems too small for it?

I went into Jessops today and bought a tripod bush adaptor however now it's too big to fit into the thread on the camera. Do I just need to buy a new tripod?

As far as I know these are standard. What size was your old camera, did that have an oddball size.
 
Hi,

The stud on the tripod is "usually" 3/8"....to take the ball or pan head, your camera will be 1/4" which "usually" matches the stud on the head.

Doh! It would appear that the hole being too large was an optical illusion. I've just discovered that on one of the quick release plates, the peg holding the plastic handle for twisting the screw in seems to have disappeared, hence I was turning it the handle, but the screw wasn't going in. The shame of it!
