Can anyone recommend a tripod and gimbal head that will not break the bank. I do not have a tripod at the moment but I am hoping to go on some workshops next year so I will need a tripod.

I would look at second-hand 'Gitzo 3 series Tripods' and a 'Lensmaster RH2' Gimbal for around that budget. - If you can push higher, then a Gitzo 5 series!

I used to have my Nikon D500/200-500 combo, on a Gitzo 3 series, which was fine..............however, once I upgraded to the 500 f4 prime, the 5 series was essential.

The 'Lensmaster RH2' gimbal, is incredible value for money at around £170.00 brand new, or second-hand for around £100.00.

Good luck with your search.

I can't recommend rollei tripods enough. I have a couple of them and the build quality is excellent. My main tripod is the Rollei Rock solid beta 2 which comes with a rollei T5S ball head and rated for 25kg load. It costs around £350, but you can usually find it cheaper on Amazon warehouse deals. I got mine, like new for £160.
