In the market for one, guessing I need to keep below £100. Had a rednsapper one in the past - sold it as rarely used it and then got another one but one of the legs broke after not a lot of use (where the latch think stops it opening up totally wide).

I don't use them much, rarely for paid work but have done at times. Its more for the odd bit of night photography (TLE events). Don't do loads of travelling so don't need anything super light but needs to be nice and robust.

With your needs in mind, I'd look for an used aluminium Gitzo. I have one for my indoor macro work and it's rock solid. Cost me about £25 from eBay. Mine is a G1201 Mk2.
