Hi All, been keeping an eye on the unanswered posts over the festive period and I have to say I've been thoroughly impressed at the welcoming and quick replies a lot of them have been getting but I noticed today we have quite a few so would anyone like to join me in seeing if we can ge the list a bit shorter? :help:

what do i say...
 
If I have something to contribute, even if it's just an opinion based on heresay, then I'll post - if not, I won't...
I've stayed out of the SWPP thread for that reason, even though I'm an avid follower of the whole sorry saga - it's none of my business - I wasn't a member and have no intention of being one...and even less so now after what I've been reading...

I see no mileage whatsoever in posting one of those: "I don't know but someone will be along later to tell you..."

I do have 35 years of photographic experience - most of it in film, some of it as a Pro - and so have an insight (or just a biased opinion - and sometimes it's wrong, but what the Hell...) on most subjects...plus I didn't join a Forum to be a passive observer...

But I see no point whatsoever in just posting something - anything just so a post isn't marked as unanswered...
 
People post for all sorts of reasons but they're not, strictly speaking, entitled to a response and a lack of replies doesn't necessarily indicate discourtesy. I'll post if I have something to say, or to add to the thread, or if I want to ask a follow up question, but I don't see the point of posting just for the sake of it.

Well that might just be the welcome someone needs.

I gave three a little bump earlier even though I might be a little limited in the help I could offer, but then others joined in too :) So the OP got the help (and the welcome) they needed.

No, no you were right in the first place. I was talking about unanswered threads :)

Sure, nothing we post is entitled to a response but we have a few new members over Christmas and there is a page of unanswered threads sitting there (33 at the last count) and a fair few are from new or newish members and I just thought it would be a nice thing if they got some comments :)

It was an invite, not one anyone has to feel obliged to take up :)
 
Its just unanswered posts in general then it depends on the subject there talking about rather than not choosing the post.
