Unique ball tripod head

Like everything else with photography...it seems you always have to make some sort of compromise...

After using a standard ball and socket head for a few months I can now look back on my Novoflex Magicball from a more objective viewpoint. In some ways it is an absolutely brilliant bit of kit. One knob takes the place the two on a B&S (three if you count the rotating base), so it is extremely flexible and there is no need to grope around for the knob you want. It does have its weaknesses though. It grips very firmly along its long axis but at right angles the grip is weak, so no good for long and/or heavy lenses. The other weakness is the rubber pads which are supposed to grip the base of the camera body. Again with a lightweight body/lens they are adequate but otherwise....... rotatorama.....

The Magicball is almost a brilliant piece of kit but not quite. I wonder if the Uniqball is in the same league?
