Yes
I'm having fun with the 450D but as I tend to take pics of birds & more & more birds in flight I'm keen for a quicker more accurate AI servo mode than my 450D offers.

I've got the dosh for a 50D now, but what is the panel's opinion on jumping in now for the 50D or saving for 3-4 months more & getting the 7D?

Better high ISO performance with both bodies I'm sure, but does the 7D offer a big enough advantage for twice the outlay over a 50D?

Using a sigma 150-500 at the moment, would it be worth getting the Canon 400mm f5.6 prime or a 100-400 zoom instead of changing camera body??

:help:

This is one for the birders, me... I'd wait to get the 7D.
Interested to see what the bird specialists have to say. Usually glass every time.

I made the jump from a 450D to a 7D a few months ago. Once I began to get to grips with the 7D, including sorting out settings etc, my keeper rate went up and I was able to take BIF shots that I wouldnt have previously tried with the 450D.

My advice, if your a keen birder like me, hang on till the 7D is a goer, use the Sigma for BIF, then take it from there

Thanks guys, I reckon you all knew I was leaning towards the 7D.

Agreed keep the Sigma & see how it pans out with a better body, lots of shots with the 450D "seem" ok until you get them home and view them on a proper screen :¬(

BIF can be a real bee*ach

Still want a 500mm f4IS L

Yeah, but do you get it now & stick it on a 450D or wait for a better body to do it justice...........

you can't polish a turd!!!
