hey guys

I have at the moment a nikon d5200, im due to a bit of a bonus shortly and was wandering if the d7000 was a worth while upgrade?

im no great photographer and just like taking pics of everything but i plan on getting better and thought should i buy the d7000 now or wait until im more advanced

any help appreciated

another option would be to buy a lens or 2 for around £800ish

What benefits will the new body deliver compared to what you have now? What lenses do you currently have (and same question applies for those)?

What are you looking to achieve with new kit?

Get the lenses. I went from a d3100 to a d7000 and it gives you easier access to the menus but damn near no change in IQ ( I assumed it would ).

Ok, the d7000 is a great camera but I think money is better spent on glass.
 
i wouldn't bother changing for the 7000. Now the 7100 is a different story - but your existing camera is still fine. I'd get better / more lenses... if required.
The main benefit of going to the 7000 / 7100 is you get a motor drive..

If you feel you have room to improve yourself buying better kit won't mean better photo's, I have been there! I now have a D7000, possibly overkill for me but I have it now so won't be selling it, but i did start out with a D3000 and learnt lots till I realized where my camera was holding me back, could then justify and upgrade in body as i had all ready upgraded my lenses. Take your time to learn how to get the best out of what you have. Maybe take a photography course and/or read some books etc and practice practice practice, post some photo's on here for some critique and take the good with the bad take on board all comments and look to improve. If doing this you find limits to your kit then it's time to upgrade it as needed.

Went from a D3100 to D7000 and love it. Biggest move for me was having the second dial on the body so don't now have to go hunting into menus to be changing ISO, shutter speed etc like you do with only one dial.

Depends what stage you are at I suppose whether you feel you need to make the move?

Don't get caught up in "I need a better body and I need better lenses to take better pictures" though. Your D5200, even with the kit lens is capable of taking fantastic photographs.

i totally understand that the best camera in the world can still take the worst pics if not experienced enough.

I just thought as i will have the money which is kind of spare cash would it be worth upgrading to the d7000.
as i said i know my picture quality will only improve with time and practice.

i will have a think about what to do over the next week.

in terms of needing a better camera for better pictures then you got leica, instax/polaroid and sigma dp

those will give alot of improvement
