upgrading 40d to 60d ?

As the title says I'm thinking of upgrading my Canon 40D to a 60D. I mainly shoot wildlife, BIF that sort of thing and general everyday snaps, my lenses include 55-250 and 100-400L. The video would be useful on the 60D and higher pixels is another advantage I can think of and flip screen.

would you think its worth paying a bit more and going for a 60D ?

I think you've listed some of the benefits of the 60D over the 40D, for me, they're not really worth an upgrade (video aside), don't forget though the 60D isn't the mag body of the 40D (I think it maybe slightly smaller as well, but not 100% on this) and so is lighter - whether this is an issue for you ?

The 7D might well be worth a look at, gets a good following on here. Just another option...

The 60D is a good all rounder but it still only has the 9 point AF setup, albeit all cross points for greateer accuracy. It's got decent ISO performance, the moveable screen is very useful and it's well built, although it's not quite as well built as the previous xxD models by all accounts.

For wildlife, specially BIF, you might be better off looking at a second hand 7D. I swapped my 60D for a 7D a few months ago, although it's only a backup to my 5D3, my hit rate has certainly gone up for BIF shots. The IQ of my 7D doesn't seem to be as clean as the 60D when SOOC using higher ISO's but with a bit of a clean in PP you can get them looking great, at up to ISO800 there isn't much of a difference in IQ at all.

The 60D is a damn good camera though and you'll get lots of good photos from it, but I'd sure look into the possibility of a 7D if finances can stretch that far.

Also the 60D does not have the joystick controller that the 40D does which is a shame as its really handy and quick to change things
that alone put me off
I went for the 550D but in the end got the 7D when the price came down

Thanks for the replies, some interesting points raised and info taken on-board. I think I will stick with my 40D for a while and look for a 7D when time and finances will allow.
