URGENT: DVI-D Monitor for camera

Has anyone tried to use a normal computer monitor as an external display for a Nikon D300/700? I was looking at picking up a cheap 19" monitor with DVI-D input and using a HDMI to DVI lead with live view.

Has anyone used a HDMI to DVI lead with their camera for live view?

Going out at 1 to work via scan so could do with quick response if anyone know or has tried it (or someone who has a HDMI to DVI lead, D300/700 and DVI-D monitor)...

cant see why it wont work at all, just if you used it for video you would not get sound.

Could you not go for HDMI to HDMI instead and plug it into your TV (assuming you have a HD flatscreen telly)?

That works but this is a 19"/21" monitor to use in the studio both as a monitor for live view and also as a 2nd display for the iMac when using lightroom tethering.

So do I, just found the 24" version for £156 and might just get those instead...

Well I think I have now decided on the 2009 version! The price is now 175 each so will have to wait a few weeks instead but will be worth it

Well having spoken to them I decided on a switch to a Benq G2420HD

about £148 for a 24" monitor with RGBs colour space, DVI-D, HDMI, VESA, VGA (although it only comes with a VGA cable not a DVI cable)

Anyway this monitor has joined my 24" Dell 2407wfp on my desk but to be honest it is NOT as good which is to be expected as although the Dell is 4 years older it still costs more 2nd hand than the Benq does new!! I switched it to RGBs mode and ran the HueyPro calibrator over it and it is not so far from the Dell.....

However I have found out the Dell have released the Dell 3011ue and I am getting one next month

30 inches of glorious IPS panel with 2560x1600 resolution and every input I could ever need. The Benq will then move into the studio as was the original plan.
