Video tripod

I hope this post is not off topic for this section, but can anyone recommend a video tripod for use with my camcorders, which are Panasonic HDV, and Sony HDV, as well as, occasionally, my D90?

I was thinking of something like the Velbon DV-7000, or DV-6000 - which are both under 100.00. For some shots, I tend to use camcorders at a low level off the ground, so a tripod that can be set low would be good.

The only other requirement I have, is, on occasion, to be able mount both the Panasonic, and Sony side-by-side. This is because one is NTSC, and the other PAL. My idea was to make up an alloy bar, fit it to the tripod's quick release, and obtain 2x quick release heads/plates for the camcorders. At present I'm using a Hama Star tripod, so anything will be a vast improvement.

I have no plans to go to a larger camera, and whilst I don't want an overly big tripod, it needs to be stable, with smooth pan and tilt.

EDIT: from the spec, it seems the DV-7000 (3.3kg) has a min height of 56.8cm, and the DV-6000 (2.2kg) 26cm.
