Video with a DSLR - Nikon D4

Guys

I don't normally use the video capabilities on my camera, apart from the odd song at a gig, my questions is, recording in Live view gives me 29m 59 secs according to the manual, does this mean, if I wish to record longer i.e.. (the whole gig) I have to keep setting it away recording after each (30 minutes) or does it do what a camcorder does and carries on recording but just splits into chunks of 30 mins.

My 7D is limited to a max filesize of 4GB, which I think is a FAT32 limitation this equates to around 12mins of full HD video at 24fps, shooting at a lower resolution may reduce file size but is restricted by the time limit of 30mins. Some stupid import legislation I understand. For continuous use as you envisage a camcorder is the best solution.

Anything that shoots over 30 mins is a Camcorder, not a camera and has a much higher import duty.

So no, the recording will stop.

You could always install a custom firmware to remove the limitation from what I've read.
