I took the camera with me on a trip to London Zoo it was my first time using the camera on manual setting.

I am quite pleased as these turned out as they are through a wire mesh fence.

You've cropped a little tight on #3, give the guy a little breathing room If you shoot RAW you have more tweaking opportunities in Post processing and could perhaps lift some of the shadow areas a bit, but good effort.

One of the problems shooting in Zoos etc is the background.

Here, the backgrounds are too cluttered. You have to move around to assess the background. In many cases a portrait shot captures the moment and doesn't come with all the background baggage.
