Walk around lens

Hi,

I'm off to Berlin in April and mother has said I can buy a lens on her card before we go, and then sell it on again when we return.

Budget is about £500 so I was thinking a used 17-40L? Would compliment my 70-200 nicely.

That or I'm tempted by a 17-55 EFS, partly due to the fact it's a few stops faster and it has IS.

What should I be looking for?

If it's for a crop body and if you'll sell it later, I'd buy the 17-55.

tamron 17-50 f2.8 would be my 1st choice. The 16-85 is a versatile lens.

Go with the 17-55 and you won't want to sell it when you get back. Don't let the lack of a red stripe fool you, this is one the best lenses I have.
