Walkaround Lens

Hi All

Can anyone tell me if there is such a thing as a good walk around lens.
I have seen the 18-135 and the 18-200 out there but are any of them passable for decent pictures. I am obviously not expecting miracles from these

15-85 IS (that's 15-> not 17->) is a cracking lens.

If you stop down wherever possible and don't pixel peep to much they should produce decent results.

I think it depends where you're coming from as well. If you're used to a kitlens or just moved up from a compact then those lenses will seem good, but if you're used to shooting with high quality lenses you're bound to be more critical.

I have a 40D with the Canon 18-200mm IS lens as a walkabout and can't complain at the quality. However if you intend to upgrade your camera to a 15mp or higher then the 18-200mm will start to show it's limitations.
