I was just playing around to experiment with taking some shots of various shiny surfaced objects around the house. These are two of my favourite, hope you like them.
First one I really like, a nice use of DOF. The second one less so, I think the Out of focus area being rather bright distracts me from the focal point at the bottom of the image.

Something about the necklace shot had been bothering me but I'd not been able to work out what it was, I think you might be right about it being too bright,
I think the 2nd could be better with a lower angle of view. Nearly fill the frame with the first pearl, all the bokeh then would create quite a nice background.
Not keen on the 2nd one as far too little of it is in focus and that which is not in focus doesn't work at being out of focus, sorry. The watch is not bad but a tighter crop would improve it I think.
