Web app for comparing size of digital cameras

Hi guys,

I've developed a new web app that allow people to visually compare two digital cameras side by side and one on top of the other. You can choose from various digital cameras and see how big or how small one cameras is to the other. You can even share a specific size comparison too.

This web app is currently in beta and I need your help in improving it. Any suggestion or comment will be greatly appreciated.

Looks good to me - pretty impressive and I look forward to the database growing ;)

The first I checked were not there (D90 vs D700).
 
Other than expanding the selection of camera models (possibly including older, defunct bodies) maybe have the little dollar able to be changed to another currency - I know what a pound looks like and despite the measurements being there for the dollar, it doesn't compute in my tiny mind :lol:

Great site though; very slick and very useful :)
 
That's really useful and very well done. :thumbs:It would be nice to be able compare sizes with the battery grip fitted where that is an option.

Also tried a combination that's not there yet - X10 (yes) v LX3/LX5 (no)

A couple of suggestions...

I found it a little annoying to keep having to change the orientation of both cameras separately, especially as the controls are hidden under different tabs. How about adding a third tab called "Both" and make this the default tab?

Once the database grows, the combo box is going to get less usable. Not sure what to suggest other than a camera picker button opening a dialog or go for the AutoTrader style car model selector with separate combo boxes for manufacturer and model; changing the manufacturer loads the model list into the second combo.
 
I agree with your comments. I've written down everything.

Change both orientation - The problem is that not all cameras have an image for that specific orientation and it might confuse people.

Currency - maybe I should replace the coin with something more globaly recognized (any suggestions?)

More cameras - added daily, and I'm happy for suggestion to which to put first, thanks.

Many thanks for your helpful remarks, I will visit here again every day to pick out more suggestions and of course make more improvements from what I hear from you guys, THANKS!

Update: Just added the Nikon D90 to the list

You can search a camera. When you open the drop down, at the top area of the drop down there is a text search field, where you can start typing the camera model or company name. Tell me if you see it. Thanks.
 
Thanks for the D90 / D700 :) Gives me a good understanding of what I will upgrade to.

I can't believe I missed that!
Yes it is there - didn't work first attempt; I got the name selected when the combo collapsed, but the camera didn't show.
Worked on subsequent goes.
No idea what I did differently or whether it as just the first go - Firefox.

You could include only orientations that both cameras share.
Most of the time that's the common ones that are probably the most useful.

You welcome. I've just added a very cool feature that I want your comment on.

Look at the bottom of the page, you'll see a "Mobile" sharing button. It dynamicaly generated QR code so people can scan the code using their mobile phone and share a specific comparison.

Please tell me what do you think about it. Thanks.

:shrug: Maybe you don't have a cool phone, but you do have a great camera - I wish I could have it (Nikon D3100 owner).

Guys, if you can try this new mobile sharing button and tell me if it works good for you I will appreciate it a lot. Need testing on Android, iPhone and Blackberry too. Thanks a million!
 
I've just added a new option to view life-size camera images. I wanted to check out to see if it works for you guys. Al you have to do is to click the magnifying-glass icon, enter the screen size (ie. 23, 19, 18.4) and click the GO button.

You can check it out against your current camera that you own at home. Please tell me if it works OK and if there are some bugs, please comment here. Thanks!
