Would it be possible to ask for a quick favor please? I have uploaded my photos from a wedding I shot as 2nd tog for a friend. I was wondering if someone would mind having a quick flick through them and giving some honest criticism and advise. I love a couple but the rest I am very worried about. Maybe I'm being too harsh on myself I don't know. There was a pro there so no problem if the bride and groom hate them all but I'd very much like to learn something from this experience.

If you don't mind sparing 5 minutes for a nosey at them let me know and I'll pm address and password to see them.

Thanks, I totally appreciate it!!!

Honestly? You are being too harsh on yourself :)

Its a lovely set, and considering you were a second tog, you've caught some lovely images there.

It could be due to resizing, but some of them seem quite noisy, maybe they've been oversharpened I dont know.

But overall? A brilliant effort. Well done :)

If Betty has given them the thumbs up, they must be good :) Why not post a couple here?

Dont say that :D

I am just saying they are overall a good set, there are a couple that dont do it for me, but Ill be here all night commenting on why :p

Hi Lisa,

You've got some good shots there and you obviously have the eye for a picture, many of your detail shots will be ideal as album fillers or ghost images and some of your candids are very good. As Betty said they do appear very noisy but it appears to be noise introduced by over sharpening. I would also say that your mono images lack consistency, many of them are quite 'flat' and could with a bit more contrast to give them some punch and others are quite dark but it's nothing that couldn't be sorted out in PP.

You should be pleased with those, was this your first wedding?

as a second tog i think you have done well..

you can see you where the 2nd tog on alot of the shots .. not saying thats a bad thing just the 1st tog did the right thing and you never got in there way " by the looks anyway"

i would check your sharpening on a few they lookdk over done and some could do with a run through some noiseware...

but on the whole like i said you have done very well imho...

i've tried to be as honest as i can....

md:thumbs:

ps hacker will sort you out

dam colin you where fast then....

Another well done from me. Agree with the comments from Betty and Colin and a little more attention to framing and you would be just fine :)

The flatness of the B&W is not a problem, it took me two years to sort out some decent actions for that so don't let that put you off at all, I can see exactly where you are with that.

You got the timing right which is a major plus and the exposures are about right.

Since those are the most major considerations, give yourself a pat on the back. For a first time you did very well. :)

And I'm still trying to find my mono nirvana! :D

I said decent Colin, not perfect! lol

With digital it's one of the most difficult things to get right. I like my black and white.............black and white, and not 100 different shades of grey!

Thanks yes it was both as a photographer and in life generally. Never been to a wedding as a guest so to be honest I hadn't the faintest idea what was going on ;) Yeah I think I definitely over sharpened the web sized ones and the noise was bugging me too!

I can not get my head round black and white I really need to practise this, what I will do is I shall sit and go through the raws again and see what I come up with. I adore b&w but getting it right seems a nightmare. But as they say practise makes perfect... I hope LOL

Thanks for your help!

thank you! I'm not sure I could ever do it as a first but I'd very much like to try again as the 2nd to see if I can put into practise some things I've learnt this time :)

Hi

I think you have got some really nice natural shots there. I particularly like the one of the lady with the big hat holding the child. But you have really captured some nice moments.

Well done

Anna
