Been and bought and new D700 that is
, i went down to jessops about an hour or so ago and got them to knock £50 off the price, i couldn't quite get them to price match the £1699 i had seen on the net, but i guess for being able to handle and inspect before i buy it's cost me 50 quid, it was the last one they had in the shop, i asked the guy i spoke too if it was ex display and he assured me it wasn't, and to be fair it looked like it had never been handled as he said they normally use the kits for display not so sure on that one though
, however i came back home and checked the actuation's and only one i took to check showed on the exif info, so all is well and i'm a very happy chappy.
So first impressions, noticed the difference in the weight from the D300 right away, and i only had the 85mm 1.8 on, the navigation button on the back protrudes a bit more that the D300 and to be honest i prefer the one on the D300, but i guess it's early days yet and i'm sure i will get used to it, the picture quality at high ISO is phenomenal, love the bright view finder, and the little lever that closes it which will be handy for landscapes, the menu is pretty much the D300 with a few extras, but that can only be a good thing, as not so much to get used to over again, so i've just run the battery right down and will now give it an overnight charge, and go out to have a play tomorrow, and hopefully post some results soon

to be honest i left it a bit late to get to London, and by the time i would have got there it would have been 11.30ish, and then i would of had to find you all, but hopefully next time
