Well they say birds can sense different changes in the weather, I spotted Wood Pigeons and Magpies flying around with twigs in their beaks yesterday :thinking:
 
It's turning colder and they are collecting firewood :shrug:
 
i snapped a kite with twigs the other day, but apparently they add to their nests all year round ... maybe your pigeons/magpies had their nests damaged?
