What gives Sharper Images FF or C size

what gives the 5dmk11 the edge over the d700 in your eyes.Des
It is true that I tend to view my pics on a computer screen so really haven't tried (or can complain about) my D200 in terms of print output
I am currently using and intend to keep my Nikon but thinking long term from the comparison sites I've seen the 5d11 just seems to have the edge on the D700 but I'm probably nit picking here.
Interesting discussion and certainly not trying to provoke a debate between Nikon v Canon. I suppose I'm really looking for the most cost effective way of moving up a step (5dC?) and the reality is that maybe I don't need to until I've pushed my camera to it's limits. It is interesting that the 5DC has it's own ongoing thread but maybe that's a refelction of the numbers sold.

So it looks like I could stay with Nikon by getting a D7000 and my pics would be as good if not better than a 5DC. That heartening news:whistling

I shoot with the D3s and the D7000
Yes the D3s is overall the better performing camera, but the D7000 is an absoloutley awesome crop camera, the best I have ever used. Most of the time, I'm splitting hairs between them
If Im off to do a serious shoot, I take the D3s. for everything else, I take the D7000. For one thing, the ISO performance is very very jaw dropping, considering the price
Someone mentions AA filters. I have a Full frame Kodak Pro SLR14n, that has no AA filter in it. It a two edged sword. On the one hand it produces beautiful shots with a stunning tonal flow. It can be as sharp as you would ever like. Get things slightly wrong, and it punishes you. Moire being he worst artefact. For a bridal portrait in natural light, it is one of the best cameras I have used, and more importantly brides choose the images from that camera every time. For Black and white work, it is also one of the best camera's I have used. I am going to retire it to exclusively B&W work

That beast still works? Wow.
35mm frame, crop frame, blah, all irrelevant if you only post your photos on facebook or flickr, but never print them at large sizes. Upgradetitis.
I would have stuck with Nikon D40 and the 35mm f1.8, if it wasn't for the awful AF and the lack of buttons.

A lot of my work is printed. And yes it still works, and TBH, it does what it does very well. My old film Nikon's still work too, I don't see why it is such a surprise

my comments re 5D11 v D700 were just based on viewing a comparison site showing identical pics from each camera which I unfortunately cannot now recall. There wasn't alot in it but the 5D11 just had the edge.
Remember I'm a Nikon owner so not looking to score points.
To recap it just seems that buying a s/h 5dc is the most cost effective way of improving I/Q but maybe the D7000 is another option going by thoughts on this thread (and using my existing lenses) although long term I still think my desire is to end up FF. Why are 5dC owners so fanatical about their cameras?

HI peter, im just interested, beacuse the d700 has better high iso, yeah the 5d has my mps but even then there is nothing in it)ive posted pics from both many times and crops from the same part and there is nothing in it) and the d700 has more fps and has a far superior af system,
I think Canon going with 18MP shows that Leica pitched the M9 at about the right level. Although they are different sensor technologies. As for the comparison I'd back the better glass of the Leica to be the difference, but the 1DX's real competitor will be the D4.
