Hi, I need to set up a system with internet conection on the system 10 mtrs approx from my router am I better to use the wireless option or a 10 mtr ethernet cable in one piece? Thanks Russ
 
If a cable is not going to get in the way or be unsightly then that is the way to go. You are always going to get better throughput on a cable rather than wireless.

I have not had any issues with my ones. It depends on you you want to connect/download.
 
Definitely Ethernet over wireless all day long, ideally wireless in it's current form should only come into play when practicalities get in the way e.g. smartphones, tablets, laptops & inability (or aversion) to run cable in a property.

Homeplugs I've found to be a mixed bag, almost exclusively I've found wireless solutions that outperform them in a variety of situations - but everyone's experience is likely to differ here it's just one of those things, there's many variables at play.
 
Cable without a doubt, much faster, more secure and deffo more reliable!

Exactly. Ethernet cat 5e or 6 my first choice. And in my house devolo 1200 home plugs next. Wireless can't come close to those speeds. But as you said, there could be many variables. Then again likewise with wireless.
 
Ethernet is the way to go for reliability, but remember that your network speed will be restricted by the slowest component - this is usually the connection between your house and the exchange (or cabinet if you've got FTTC). You can use sites like speediest.net or speedof.me to check your download and upload speeds.
