A friend found this lying about - any ideas?

Is there no writing on the front element?

Does not seem to be a thread or bayonet for mounting it on a camera.
Maybe a Tamron Adaptall with the camera mount removed.

OK I dug up the info, It's a Solitel f2.8 135mm lens. Any idea what sort of mount it has, looks like a screw? M42?

Cheers

it is indeed an M42 lens. A 135mm f/2.8 isn't too bad at all, get yourself an M42 adapter for your camera and, as long as the optical quality is reasonable, you have yourself a nice little manual focus portrait lens.

Solitel were not the greatest lens in their day (compared to Vivitar and Tamron) but they were very acceptable and very rugged compared to today's consumer lenses.

None of the M42 lenses I own have a thread on the cap.

It could simply be bad lighting & bad picture that's preventing us from seeing threads on the base of the lens.

The auto-aperture pin implies to me too that it's an M42 lens.

Tell him to take a photo of the front end of it and post it here, there might be a buyer on these forums rather than wasting money paying fleabay fees.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Now I think its time for me to move on :bang:

Or suggest something else it could be?

Screw it, why do I even bother posting on here any more.

Calm down dear, it's only the internet.;)

Looks like M42 to me also, but a close up of the mount would confirm this, and maybe a measurement across the threads.

depends what it is.

Depends which M42. :)

Some are worth a fiver, some are worth £500.
