what lens should i buy

hi all hve just bought a 40d and am looking for a lens to go with it, im looking for a good all round lens and would be using it for portraits and genral shots outside, i will be selling my g10 to fund this so im guessing around a £400 buget for a second hand unit thanks

Keep the Sigma 17-55 and i'd recommend a 28-135mm IS USM cos i av one and itz brill!

no one makes a lens so can't be of help on that front but I can suggest a lens or two you might want to invest in.

the sigma 17-50 f2.8-4.0 OS looks interesting as does the new tamron 17-50 f2.8 VC
