What lenses to keep/sell?!! Help me choose!!!

I need to free up some funds and my lens are all in a bit of an overlapping muddle so some need to go!

Firstly, my 50mm f1.4 is staying put - can't be without a 50!!

Next comes the choice:

18-200 VR MKII - great lens for doing a bit of everything, surprisingly sharp for a superzoom, but cant help feeling I am missing a bit of sharpness.

OR

16-85 VR & 70-300 VR combo - 16-85 is a very nice lens, best built out of them all and handling is excellent. Trouble is, I have found that when on a walkabout the extra reach of the 18-200 may have come in useful. When it comes to the 70-300, I thought the difference between 200 and 300 would be very noticiable, but it does not seem that way. No doubt it does reach further than the 18-200, but not WOW thats far kinda way.

Trouble is, there is pro's and cons of both set ups, but I really do have to sell either the 18-200 or the two lens set up.

Its a pretty big decision to make, so hoping some TP people will share their views on this matter.

At the end of the day I need to decide whats best for me, but nothing wrong with gathering some TP knowledge to help me decide.

I shoot a bit of everything, the odd horse show, family and friends, pets and of course the usual holiday snaps at zoos etc.

Camera body is a D7000.

ideally the 18-200 should cover most of your shots and i certainly would use the 18-200 on its own. Also selling the 16-85 and 70-300 VR will get you more cash then selling the 18-200 alone.
 
I'm not a superzoom fan, so I would go for option 2 but all this probably indicates is that it's down to personal preference so I think you might be on your own with this one.
 
I would love fast glass! But rather than selling body parts lenses have to go. Think the two lens combo may still be the answer, but a new bag would be needed!!!
 
Check the EXIFs of your shots and see which focal length is your most used. That should inform your decision.

Also, as far as my Nikon lenses were concerned, the IQ from my 16-85VR far outshone that of my 18-200VR. I'm not sure if the same applies to Canon.

ETA: your info says Canon but 'VR' suggests Nikon :thinking:
