Hi Guys and gals,

My wife and I always go somewhere for easter as a mini holiday. I want to stay in the UK this year and I want to include some unique photography, ideally wildlife. What is going on in the beginning of April that is interesting?

I'd love to see whales, but I think that is a little early. Birds on the cliffs are a possibility, but we have Bempton and surrounds locally so that is neat, but not so unique. Anything else good? What about non wildlife?

Consider the whole of the UK from JoG to LE and possibly Ireland.

Thanks,
Rick

Norfolk and Suffolk have lots of great reserves, Titchwell and Minsmere to name 2 plenty places to spend time like the broads etc.

Now if you set your sights a bit bit further you could go to the Scilly Isles!!

Its a mecca for twitchers.

.I would be looking at Shetland, spring migration would be well underway and would offer plenty of opportunities, check out Hugh Harrop at Shetland wildlife on facebook.

Aviemore/Inverness area.

This would put you in easy reach of Loch Garten.

Easter this year may be a little early for the Ospreys, though one returned in late March a couple of years ago.

Also not far to the Insh Marshes -

Chanonry Point on the Black Isle is fairly close and a good place to see dolphins, very close from the shore.

A longer day would get you towards the west coast for different scenery

and a sea trip

Probably too many there for a mini-holiday.

Hi All,

Well we've found a place and booked a location. We had some additional constraints added which made things tougher (fits 6 *** + 2 dogs, scotland south of inverness, not edinborough or speyside since we've been there). We found a great cottage near Loch Lomond and Helensburgh.

So now the next question is "anything interesting in that area around then?" I'll take my full kit and probably shoot landscapes in my free time. But if there are whale/dolphin trips available or something unique I don't want to miss it.

Thanks
Rick

I can't offer anything in the way of personal knowledge for the area, but the excellent Walkhighlands site is useful.

It is mainly for walkers but they usually have a number of walks in every area ranging from less than mile to all day mountain walks with some information about the area.
