what would you reccomend??

im just gettin into photography properly and dont know what camera to get ill wish to keep it aslong as possible and am lookind at either the nikon d40 or d40x which of the two would you reccomend if any for a begginer or if not any of these which other camera would be good? id be grateful of any help

Wow, that must be some sort of record for impatience. You waited a whole 17 minutes before you bumped the thread!

Anyway, all modern DSLRs are pretty competent for beginners. Those two Nikons, the Canon 400D or 450D, Sony, Pentax, Olympus, .....

If you want some more specific help:
- do you have a budget in mind?
- what do you see yourself taking photos of?
- how big are your hands?
- do any of your friends/family have DSLRs, and if so which brand?

I'd recommend a 2nd hand D80, simply because it's a better camera, with an AF motor in the body, which means you have a greater selection of lenses..

You should be able to get a good deal on a Mint D80, bringing it to the same kind of price as a new D40x
