wife bought me a nikon d5200 a few months back and in the box was a lead, it has a small jack one end and a small square plug on the other end, its a coiled/springy lead.

just wandered what its for, i seem to have miss placed the box with instructions so cant look in there.
also one other question

is it possible to put put pics from camera on to a portable hdd with out a computer, im due to be going to australia soon and was wandering the best way to store pics until i got back

cheers all

Did she buy the camera used? Because you could get any sort of cables or bits and bobs in there in that case, depending on the seller.

I suspect it's a shop return. They repackage and reseal the little plastic bags, then whack it back on the shelf. Looks like the lead was on the bench and the time and the PC World chimp didn't know what it was so just stuck it in there. It's certainly not a lead that Nikon put in there.

Have you done a shutter activation check to see if the camera is new? Little point now though I suppose if you've been using the camera.
