Hi All

Am going to buy D80 Nikon like to take motor racing pics, wildlife, and some landscapes.

How many lens should I buy, and what do you all think as to the different ranges of the lens I was thinking of three different types to cover all my requirements any advice very welcome

Wildlife typically requires a decently long lens - 300mm and over. Landscapes tpyically require wide lenses - less than 50mm say, and some people prefer ultra-wide lenses of 20mm or less. Motorsport will require some sort of telephoto, but I'm not really an expert there.

If you get your camera with an 18-55mm "kit" lens, that will do you quite happily for landscapes and general walkabout photography and it's inexpensive. Something like a 70-300mm zoom will be OK for motorsport and wildlife and there are some great bargains in this range. Once you get a bit of experience you'll find out whether they meet your needs or whether you need to upgrade, but these two lenses would get you started.

By the way - do you have a particular reason for wanting to buy a Nikon? The reason I ask is that you get a better choice of quality telephoto lenses for wildlife with Canon than with Nikon.

Sound advice from Stuart.Specialist lenses are expensive. Be absolutely sure you need one before buying.
Pete.
