Nice shot Roy, I like this. As for the background - in my opinion - it seems to enhance the birds colouring and seems to give it nice clean, clear lines. Works for me.

These are from my local patch in the north of the county at Northam Burrows country park Pete - best time of the year is in the spring (when this was shot). On this site you can photograph from the comfort of the car.
