Which camera should i upgrade to?

I had a Sony a200 for about a year and a half which was my first dslr camera, but i have recently sold it to fund an upgrade. i still haven't reached the sum i need for the kit im looking at which is a Nikon D90 Digital SLR Camera with 18-105mm ED VR Lens. but im not far off. is this a good upgrade or can anyone suggest a better upgrade for this amount of money.
 
have you considered the Canon EOS 550D Lens Kit (EF-S 18-55mm IS)?

to be honest i haven't considered anything other than the D90 after trying a friends a little while back. thats what made me want to upgrade. But now im getting closer to affording it im wondering ifthat is the best bit of kit i can get for my money. But looking at the canon 550d it does seem like a good peice of kit. and i would reach the sum needed a little sooner.

Any other suggestions?.

That is what i intend to do, i like the D90 but i havnt really had a feel of any other models so i am looking for recommendations of other models in that sort of price area so that i can then go and check out. I am also open to buying second hand from here or Fleabay.
