Which Canon.

I am posting this for my brother,he is going to buy his first DSLR and has narrowed it down to 3,all 3 come as twin lens kits with 18-55 and 70-300.
500D
1100D
Kiss X4 from digital rev.
My question is what are peoples opinions on which one is best,i tried convincing him to buy Nikon but his budget will not allow it.He's not likely to add more lenses or upgrade the body,what he buys is what he will keep.

I got the 500 last year and have been more than happy with it. The only real gripe I have is the 55- 300 is not that sharp over 250 but I did get the 55-250 IS for Christmas do hopefully my photos will be sharper this summer.

If you really want a small canon I would recommend a 450d and use the change to buy better glass. the 18 55is is great value for money as is the 55 250 which is about 100 quid second hand. top that off with a 50mm 1.8 and you are well set. I would skip the 70 300 personally.

The reason I suggest the 450d is 1) its very cheap 2nd hand - about 250 quid and 2) in my opinion for a beginner as good as a 500d if u are not bothered about video.

before long you brother will want a better camera and will probably want a 50d or something like that.
