Hi all!
Im looking at getting a compact for my fiancee, and am after a bit of advice really. Not really got a budget, but dont want to be spending over £150 - £175. She wants something which is easily put in a handbag or pocket, and I would like something with good picture quality and a decent zoom range. We will also be taking it on holiday with us aswell, (along with my 40d) so it would be nice if it was fairly wide angle also, so she we can take some scenic type shots on the move. Ive looked at the canon G9, but this seems a little chuncky? Any opinions? Ive also seen theses few I/she likes

Thanks for that, so you would say Lumix is the best of thye bunch? I quite like the sony, but not too sure on the image quality. Anone else got any thoughts?

I have a Lumix FS5. Cannot fault it at all - very simple controls (not much manual settings) otherwise great.

I have a Panasonic FX33 which is a cracking little camera, very compact and very good quality images (actually won a few comps with shots taken with it) they are also very well made.
Cheerio

I stick to the Ixus range of canon, though the better ones are outside your budget (my current one is the 980is) there are plenty in the range to look at.

Not particularly wide angle but i think the image quality is hard to beat. Service backup is impressive too.
