Which DSLR camera should I buy?

Hi Everyone!

I'm Idiomad and am new to the forum!

Was posting to ask some advice from people who know more about what I should be looking for when buying a new camera.

I'm finally upgrading my camera to my first DSLR as I want to get more serious about photography.
After much research have narrowed down my options to the Nikon D5100 and the Canon EOS 600D.

They are both for sale with Amazon currently with 18-55m lens kits for around £400.

Go to a shop and try them both. That's the only ah you will know.

Specs wise, there is nothing in it, both will take great photos.
The only thing is how they handle and how easy you find the menus and the button layout.

Only you know that, so only you can decide.

As Tom says, you need to try them out yourself to see which you prefer, which feels the best to hold and whose menu system you prefer.

Either of these will be a great camera and you'll have lots of fun with them.

The 600d is a very nice camera, my dad has one and I do like it. It really is a very good buy at the moment. I can't comment on the Nikon as I have not used it. Gets very good reviews, take a look at the lens back up for both systems as well and look at what they offer for your style of photography.

Find a decent camera shop and have a good play with them both, either way you won't be disappointed.

While you're in Jessop's having a look at the pair of them, also have a play and feel with the Sony A57 and Pentax K30, which in the case of the latter has a £50 cashback promo until the 15th Jan from qualifying suppliers.
If you opted for buying from a Pro centre/dealer, your warranty is 24 months instead of the standard 12.

I agree that both those are well worth taking a look at - they both have £50 cashback by the way, Canon and Nikon also have cashback promotions on with £40 on the EOS 600D and £55 on the D5100.
