Yes
I love my 50mm f/1.4 that produces amazing photos... But I have to stand further back!

A quick look shows my choices as:

Sigma 24mm f/1.8
Nikkor 24mm f/2.8
Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8

Any other suggestions?

I haven't used any of these lenses. What do you guys think? Is the Sigma's wider aperture enough to opt over the Nikkors?

None of the above.

17-35mm 2.8 for the win. Plus you'll still be able to use it on a full frame camera in the future. It a lot sharper than the 17-55 and about £300 cheaper!

If you can hack old school manual focus and have some spare cash you could also look at the Zeiss Planar range. I've just got the 50mm 1.4 and it's stunning.

I will probably get the 2/35 next

PS Don't bother with the Zeiss unless you have a D200 or above

Meh. I didn't find it any sharper and when I was looking to buy new it was more expensive than my 17-55!

The Sigma 15-30mm F3.5-4.5 EX DG ASPHERICAL Lens, is a great one, for under £300.00.

Whats your budget? If its quite large, then you might want to hunt down a;

Nikkor 28mm f1.4

Its damn expensive, but also considered as one of Nikons best ever lenses. Failing that, I went for a Sigma 30mm f1.4, but this might not be as wide as you require.

Jesus Christ, that's out of this world! Though the extra 4mm and perhaps the price puts me off lol.

The 17-35 is an option, too. So is it sharper than the 17-55 or not lol?

Any views on the Sigma 24mm f/1.8?

I'm a huge fan of the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 which is very reasonable priced and very very sharp. It's also got a very useful range.

Thanks,

I'll be selling my Sigma 10-20 when I get around to taking some pics of it for an ad.

I have a D3 on order so have no use for it. I dont tend to shoot very wide at the minute anyway.
