A pro photographic friend recommend me two company to buy my insurance.

They are:

Glover & Howe

and

Imaging

My overall cost of camera and lens is approx value £4000 and Glover & Howe cost £131 but require a list of item that is insured etc and require to paid a lump sum for the year.

Imaging quote is around £165 for the value of £4000 but don't need to declare any items at all unless one single item cost more than £1500 which in my case i don't since my most expensive piece is camera body and the 28-70mm f2.8. Imaging gives me an option to paid a lump sum or split the cost monthly.

Was wondering have anyone deal with the 2 and which one is more prefer?

I've recently insured all my gear at a company called Photoguard. I got £8000 cover, new for old with travelling covered for around £250. Might be worth having a google about and see what you can find. I've got the wife's 550D and extras covered by E&L, but I can't say I would recommend them too highly as they have an 8% excess which could get quite expensive.

Do your insurance company ask you for a list of items that is insured and declare the value or replace value?

For glover and howe it ask for it on the form but imaging doesn't so just wondering how will i claim if anything happens .....

I'm with Infocus Insurance. By far the best T's & C's I could find. YMMV though. I think I have £8k for about £170 IIRC

Was with photoguard. But they've recently changed underwriters and the terms and conditions look a bit suss (should lawyers step in).

They are however very good (as I had an accident with a lens on my camera, and a concrete platform at a railway station) when covering the kit.

If they hadn't had such weak terms I might had done another year. They also had in car insurance (as long as it wasn't on display). That changed in the wording to a lockable compartment... No way I can fit my rucksack of kit in the glove box.... ;)

I'd be interested in compiling a list as there was piece of mind before :)
Links and anyone who is using insurance welcome. Especially to the two mentioned by the op!!

As to photoguard, they try to get serial numbers and descriptions of kit - which is good, if it gets stolen, they have the serials for the police.

thats good advice, I think i will go with Imaging since they have good review on both dealing and claiming plus they do installment on the insurance as well so thats pretty handy.

i went with imaging Insurance today, their customer service is good and helpful when i constantly asking questions before i pull the trigger lol.

Felt safe now when all my gear is insured lol
