Which is better? Canon EOS 1000D or Nikon D3000?

The "best" camera is the one that feels comfortable to use, neither one is better than the other, they'll both do the job perfectly.

:agree: Most of the entry level camera's are very much on par, you're buying into a system, not just a camera, so you'll need to look into what lenses and other accessories (flashes etc) you want. Pentax, Sony, Nikon, Canon, Olympus all offer good entry level camera's, it depends which one feels comfortable to use and operate, we can't make that decision for you. Best advice is to go and try them out in your local camera store.
