Which Lens?

Looking ata lens for my D40. Which of these 3 would you recommend?

I've got the Sigma in Canon fit and its a great lens for the cash, but useless in low light.

So it wouldn't be recommended for capturing things such as sunsets etc?

If you have a tripod it will be fine.

you'd shoot sunsets are f5.6 to f11 anyway wouldn't you??
some people even higher and as has been mentioned, a tripod is pretty handy for these things

id probably go with the 55-200 Nikon unless you think the extra reach is needed? The VR is helpful at these focal ranges and it is plenty sharp.

I dont know about the other two but the Nikon 55-200 is very sharp some say it's even sharper than the Nikon 70-300.
