Which shutter release?

Hello.

I had a cheap cable shutter release for my Canon but the cable has worn now and it will not work. Ive been looking at wireless ones but are these worth it? Do the official canon cables last longer as well as I notice they are around £12 more than the cheap ones.

I've had cheap wired ones, cheap wireless ones and the official Canon wired. I've gone back to the Canon genuine wired one, it is by far the best and most reliable.

The official Canon IR remote are quite good, have yet to miss a shot as long as I have line of sight to the sensor (eg, not blocked by lens)

The cheaper ebay ones, however AVOID is all I can say.

Im going to avoid the wireless ones because I do a lot of bulb/night photography.
