Which Teleconverter?

Just some advice please guys, I have a Nikkor ED AF-I 300mm 2.8D (about 12 years old I believe) and would like to know which teleconverters would work best with this lens.
I understand that some of the newer Nikon TC's need a 'lug' removed to be compatible with anything other than AF-S even then I don't know if they would give AF with this lens.
So ideally I need a TC that will be the best fully compatible available, pref 2x or 1.7x - any Nikon or is there Kenko etc that would best suit?

If your lens is the one 4th in the list you should be OK with the Nikon converters.
If you cannot get definitive info here best email Nikon.

Thanks, I did see that and really wasn't sure as the lens doesn't actually say IF-ED just ED AF-I 300 2.8D and not being able to find any pics to see if there is a difference I just don't know if it's the same.
Maybe an email to Nikon will be best - thanks.
