Which Tripod?

Hi,
I am after a bit of advice from all you fellow 'toggers out there.

Which would be the best tripod I could get for a budget of £100.

Key points;

  • Stability, (a must)
  • Light weight, (for trekking)
  • Smooth action, (also full 90deg movement for portrait)
  • Spirit level, (an added addition)
  • Ease of use, ( quick release ans setup)
  • Carry case, (nice but not necessary)

I know it seems like quite a few requirements given the budget but I having been looking into this myself and obviously each manufacturer spouts off about there own equipment, so I am looking for an unbiased opinion.

Many thanks..,

I don't have one myself but Redsnappers get a very good review on this site.

Only thing is that it won't come with a head, so you'll need to factor this in.

You're spot on about stability...to me that's my first consideration, but for your budget I doubt whether you'd get a liggtweight one. Redsnapper do carbon fibre legs for about £140 which is very good but this is for the legs only.

For your budget, stability yes lightweight no...

Perhaps look at second hand? They come up on here quite often.

I picked up a manfrotto with head and bag for £100 on here, not a mark on any of them, the bag alone sells for £30 or so.

Thanks for the info.

I never thought of that, what a wazuck :cuckoo:

have a look at the camlink tppro24a and tppro28b

Will do, ta.

I do have a redsnapper and they are a great piece of kit and Joe is an absolute pleasure to deal with, great guy.

You can pick up a red snapper and head for £75 ( I think), maybe not the lightest kit in the world, but easily enough carried around and it does come with a bag.

I've got Redsnapper legs + head and very happy. Don't forget the 10% discount for being a TP member :)

Looks a lot like Redsnapper to me.

Cheers..,

Looks good, but don't forget the maximum height of both tripod and head is 1.62m. A tripod is at its least stable fully extended..

Other than that, it seems excellent value for money! However,in the world of tripods, I'm not sure whether I'd call 1.8kg lightweight

Not good for tall peeps or those like me who have back problems :-(

I have a Redsnapper (not carbon fibre) which I love and would highly recommend but not if you want to take it trekking. Yes the bag is good and it's fine for normal carrying but IMO it is too heavy for trekking if you intend to take any sizeable amount of other walking gear (water, food, clothing, survival etc).

Just my personal opinion.

Yeah i would go with Redsnapper also. Got one last tuesday and im over the moon with it.

I looked at the big name brands but in my opinion for this price it beat's them hands down, even big name models at £130 and on.
