Which tripod?

Morning all

I'm new to all of this and just after a bit of advice.

I'm after a tripod which will be able to withstand a 60cm or 120cm dolly attached in the middle. Doesn't have to be light as I'm not planning on lugging it around.

I will be using a canon 500d with a Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II Lens.

I know this won't come cheap but I would rather spend the money one that will last.

If there's any second hand ones out there, even better!

Does anyone know what would be best for my circumstances?

1. Gitzo and RRS
2. Manfrotto
3. Benro maybe
4. Feisol maybe
5. Giottos or Slik

I have 4 Gitzo tripods of different series, i never look back since then and it will last with me maybe forever, so even if i paid $1000, at least i know i paid once lifetime and it will do a huge job for all my gear even the heaviest one, it can handle up to 25kg of series 5, and series 3 is lighter so i use that only for travel overseas and with 18kg handle it will serve me well.

I recommend you getting a tripod that can handle bigger than 10kg if possible and it is carbon fiber, if you can't afford then to me anything else is just a personal choice.

The problem is, what is your budget? If it is average then forget about Gitzo and RRS, if you can afford Gitzo or RRS then i can recommend you something.

Looking at about £200 I think max.

I'm guessing I could get a manfrotto for that price?

This one is cheaper and in your budget range, but without head, so think before you buy, it can handle up to 7kg or 15lb, not sure if this will be enough for most of your gear heavy ones.

I have just bought a used manfrotto 190xprob and a manfrotto 322rc2 head from the sales section on here for £110 posted, what a great bit of kit compared to the miranda i previously had.
My advice would be to watch out for quality used goods on here, or spend as much as you can, after comparing both tripods they are in a totaly different league.
