Which Wacom tablet for a 24" iMac?

I'm looking at getting a Wacom tablet to go with my iMac 24". Can anyone recommend one suitable ? Also. When I install the Wacom tablet do I need to load any software onto my mac or will it just detect it when I plug it in via usb?

The Wacom tablets come with drivers for MacOS and Windows. Any of the current models will work with your computer it is just a matter of deciding what size you want.

I have a large Intuios3 (virtually identical) but, certainly to start with, I thought that maybe I should have bought the smaller one. There is not much difference in price because it is pretty much the same product other than a bit of extra plastic and some more sensor. A tablet double the size still has one pen, one manual etc. I would dump the Intuios mouse it is beyond rubbish and certainly not worth paying for.
 
Intuos 4 large all the way for me. I'm on the 24" imac too & find it's a perfect size. Considering I went to this from an A3 intuos, I thought it'd take me ages to get used to it but it didn't at all. All of the shortcuts & the radial menus make it definitely one to consider. I wouldn't be without mine. Highly recommended :thumbs:
 
I haven't used on myself but my OH says he had a smaller version and found it too tricky with his mac so is on lookout for a slightly larger one. Mind you he does have banana fingers!

i use the A5 wide size Intuos3 on my 24" mac and find that it does just fine. I used to have the A4 wide but found that it was just a bit to big on the desk.
 
I use the Intuos 4 on a Windows PC and it is really good. I moved to the medium size from and Intuos2 A5 and found a huge difference.

I bought the medium as the large takes up a huge chunk of real estate on the desk for relatively little advantage IMO.
 
I bought the Wacom Intous4 Large recently, really happy with it. Haven't had any problems with it however it did take a while to set up in cs5 for some reason.

the large is bigger than i thought and works wonderfully with dual screens so im guessing itll work just as great with one 24"

Didn't even know they did a wireless one. To be honest though, especially with the large version, it is too big to keep moving around.

I do fancy a second smaller one for use with the laptop.
 
Intuos4 small works fine for me and it can go in my bag for roadtrips with the laptop.

Size you choose depends more on how you draw than the size of the screen.

Draw a few simple shapes on a bit of paper, if you tend to rest your drawing hand on the page and draw from the wrist / fingers then the smaller tablets will suit you.

If you draw from the shoulder (more like a painter might do) then the large will be a better choice.
 
Well its between medium and the large. Medium is available as bluetooth. Im a bit puzzled about how the bluetooth works as it says that the unit charges through the USB port....but is that not how a 'wired' version would connect anyway? Or am I missing the point somewhere?
 
if you only have the one screen then get the medium unles you plan to add a second screen in the future. i have the large over two screens which is great but it would be too big with one screen

It has a rechargeable battery rather than using some such as AA's.

The use of USB charger means you can continue to use the device whist it recharges. Wacom claim 18 hours of use per charge, but in reality I would imagine it to be somewhere around 12 hours of constant use.
 
I have a cte 440 its A6 and is far to small.
If any one has a large and wants to swap for a small plus some cash ;)
I would get the biggest you can afford it makes doing things like tracing soooo much easier
