I own a canon 70-200 F4 L, but was thinking of changing it to the sigma 70-200 F2.8, would there be much difference in the between these 2 lens? Am i better of changing to the sigma or just staying with what i have?

Thanks Andy

I dont think so,the canon f4 was the sharpest of the canon 70-200's before the f4is come along.I sure the sigma will be sharp enough if you get a good one.

In your situation I would personally keep the lens and consider a 85mm or 50mm 1.4 prime
and a flashgun

probably - you need to get both on the camera and have a play with them

classically on a full frame 85mm is the choice for portraits, on a crop, 50mm makes sense on a cropped sensor. your zoom is on the long side, do you have something like a 28-70?

No i dont richard, i have the 18-55is, 50mm 1.8.
I used to have the 17-85 which i used for portraits which i liked, some *** say the canon 28-105mm is, i think thats the one is better than the 17-85.

+1. You cannot beat a fast prime and a flash gun for indoor shots/portraits. My personal favourite is the Sigma 30mm f/1.4.

50mm is a bit too long on a crop body for indoor shooting. You will find yourself backing up often to get the framing and to fit everyone into the frame. The 30mm is just right.
