.....I caught this completely by chance. Any ideas? I've put the brightened jpeg on the left and a messed about raw image to try and see the overall shape on the right. It's not the Space Station but is it a satellite of some sort?

I saw the same thing (or very similar) a couple of mornings ago, just around dawn, almost due East and at about 30-50 degrees up in the sky. Didn't have my specs on and was too sleepy to find them, have a better look and try to shoot the thing but did wonder (until I went back to sleep!)

Thanks for the suggestions. I was really hoping it was aliens......but I guess it is probably just space junk! Like David said, Ian's link was a real eye-opener.....I had no idea there was so much stuff flying around up there!!
