"Incidentally that's not me or my car :), but I did speak to one of the wardens attending it and he said the fine is a minimum of £1000.00, plus any damage to the post or mechanism, then of course the damage to pay for having the car put right"

Wow! So, are you saying that if you tailgate in London, there are lifters in the street that will lift the car and immobilize it? Do they have to wait for a traffic officer to come write a ticket, before the car will be released?
