Wide angle for Canon

Okay, so I've just got a part time job (I'm a student), and am hoping to put the money towards some new kit. My current kit is:

Canon EOS 450D
Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS (Kit)
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8
Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM

Christmastime I will be getting a 7D and a 24-70L or 24-105L, so I'm not looking for a lens on the mid zoom range. I reckon my 70-300 will last me a good few years - optic quality on that is immense. So, I'm left with the wide end. I have often wished I could be shooting wider than my kit lens lets me - and the image quality isn't amazing. Can anybody recommend me a wide lens which is of good quality? I'm looking at £300-400 tops (though cheaper would be nicer!).

Thanks :)

A second hand 10-22 or look at the Sigma 10-20.

^^^ Those are the favourites

Think about a 17-55 2.8 before splashing out on a 24-70 or 24-105. It has a more useful range on a crop format camera, is at least as sharp (possibly sharper), runs to f/2.8 and has IS.
