Im looking to buy a wide angle lens soon, I want to budget around £300 to £400 can anyone suggest any?

Remember that the crop factor comes into play
How wide do you want to go? UWA lens like a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 or a more standard WA lens?
 
Im not after a super wide angle, just enough that gets more into the image than normal standard lenses, id like something that can fit more into it more something that doesnt fit too much in, I hope I make sense haha.

For Nikon, the Tokina 11-16 is the best for DX and I did notice they have a new version which I was going to post about. Given that they may have screwed that up I'd still get version 1 just now.

The Nikon 10-24 is priced well above its performance capability and I thought the Nikon 12-24 was a nicer lens , the Sigma 10-20 is fine but does anyone live long enough to get a good copy:p and the Tokina 12-24 I'd probably put 2nd to the 11-16.
Oh yeah- there is a Tamron 10-24 but the one I tried was not as good- noticeably so (sample variation?) but it is/was cheaper so as they say you get what you pay for.
 
OK, I got distracted while typing and I see you don't want UWA.

Nikon 17-55 then or Tamron 17-50 non VC might fit the bill?

A good question for you would be what lenses do you have?
 
I have the Sigma 70-300mm and the standard kit lens for the D3000 which was my first DSLR, and the standard 18 - 105 mm for my d7000

If you don't want super wide the why isnt the 18mm end of the kit lens enough?
 
To be honest, if you already have an 18mm lens, I would look for something quite a lot wider otherwise, you'll maybe not notice a huge difference. 15mm will seem quite a bit wider but not sure that 17mm will be noticable.

Maybe also take a look at the Tokina 12-24 as that's quite a nice useable range.

I think I may end up going for that Tokina as a lot of people keep suggesting it, and my friend had it once and said its a good lens too. Although I do like the 15 - 30mm :lol:
