Will the big beercan be to heavy for the Sony a35 body

No it'll be fine, you need to put a lot of stress on the mount to cause damage like when using massive long lenses.

I've got a 70 - 210mm f4 beercan which I use with my Minolta AF film SLR's fine and its only a little lighter than the big beercan.
 
Ok thanks. Just about to buy a tamron when i came across the beercan at home. Bit of a result, saved me some money
