Willl Nikon 70-200 VR work with the Sigma 1.4x TC

I'm seriously looking at getting myself one of Nikons nice 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR.

I already have a Sigma 1.4x Teleconverter for the odd occasion I need a bit more reach - does anyone know if it will work on the Nikon? :shrug:

As long as it's nikon fit it will work.

However, some people say the Sigma converters work as well as the Nikon ones. My personal experience is that they dont work quite as well.

One thing though, I dont think it will communicate it's presence to the body, so EXIF data will show f2.8 wide open.

I can live with skewd EXIF - it would just be handy to get me by on the odd occasion.

Joe has it right - I have both. The Sigma reads as F2.8 and doesn't perform quite as well as the Nikon x1.4.

I really do hardly use the TC - its nice to know it fits and works (to a fashion!).

I have a feeling that if I move to the Nikon 70-200 I may end up using it more that I do with my present Sigma at the moment (which I still think is a damn good lens) and that will encourage me to swap the TC for the Nikon one sooner rather than later.
